EU funding for developing competence and innovative approaches for managing dementia

SLOVENIA, January 19 - As part of the call for proposals, support will be provided to the projects fostering the implementation of educational programmes, providing training and supporting the development of pilot innovative approaches to managing dementia. Activities will be carried out in three areas, i.e.: development of professional competence in healthcare, development of competence for dementia care in dementia-friendly settings and implementation of innovative approaches for a more efficient dementia care. The project will result in new cooperation models, educational materials and resources and upgraded network of support providers.

The aims of the call for proposals:

  • to enhance access to quality multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary care for people living with dementia,
  • to build competence of healthcare workers, social workers and informal caregivers,
  • to improve health literacy and fight stigma surrounding dementia,
  • to create dementia-friendly and inclusive communities to support social inclusion of people with dementia and ensure they lead a quality life in their own homes for as long as possible.

The call for proposals will be implemented in the framework of Slovenia's EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 under priority Long-term care and health, and social inclusion. It will make €2,700,000 available, of which €1,698,799.50 in European Social Fund Plus support and €1,001,200.50 in national contribution.
